Retirement Announcement: Jason Kelce

Jason Douglas Kelce, born on November 5, 1987, in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, has decided to step away from his illustrious football career. As a center in American football, standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing approximately 282 pounds, Kelce's journey began when he was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round (191st overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft from the University of Cincinnati.

Throughout his entire professional career, which spanned an impressive 13 seasons, Kelce became synonymous with the Philadelphia Eagles. His achievements include two First-team All-Pro selections (2017, 2019), eight Pro Bowl selections (2014, 2016-2021), and a pivotal role in the Eagles' triumphant victory in Super Bowl LII in 2018.

Kelce's distinctive long hair and beard, along with his praised attributes of agility, intelligence, and leadership on the field, set him apart in the NFL. Despite declining interviews during his last moments in the locker room, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni openly expressed his affection, stating, "I love him. He's special, and I love him. He's always got a place here."

During his final appearance on the sidelines during Monday night's game, Kelce displayed visible emotion, marking the end of an era as a member of the Eagles. His teammates, including quarterback Hurts and fellow offensive lineman Lane Johnson, conveyed deep admiration. Hurts acknowledged Kelce's challenging journey, stating, "It's been a long, long time coming for him," emphasizing the yearly speculation about his return.

In a similar sentiment, Johnson labeled Kelce as "one of the best to ever play the game," expressing doubt about seeing another athlete with Kelce's athletic prowess for a considerable time. As Jason Kelce bids farewell to the football field, his legacy and contributions to the sport remain etched in the hearts of fans and the annals of NFL history.
